Privacy Policy
Last updated: 24 October 2026
LaunchBuddy turns a product's landing page into a launch plan of social posts and schedules them in your Buffer account. It is built and run by Bear Liu, an independent designer in Auckland, New Zealand. In this policy "we" means Bear Liu as the operator of LaunchBuddy.
This policy explains what we collect, why, who else handles it, and how to have it deleted. If something here is unclear, email hi@bearliu.com.
What we collect
What you give us
- Your email address, when you create an account or turn on reminders.
- The landing page URL you paste, or the product description you write instead.
- Your answers to the launch survey and to the check-in emails after launch, including any images you upload there.
- The posts we generate for you, and any edits you make to them.
What we read from your landing page
- The page's public text, title, description and images, and a screenshot of the page when it has no usable images. We only fetch the page you give us.
What we get from Buffer, when you connect it
- An access token and a refresh token, so we can act on your behalf. We store both encrypted and they never reach your browser.
- Your Buffer account email, your organisation ID, the channels you connect (name, network and ID), and how many posts are already scheduled on each, so we don't go over your plan's limits.
We do not read your posts' performance, comments, messages or followers. Buffer does not offer that to apps like ours, and we don't need it.
What we record automatically
- A session cookie that keeps you signed in. It is encrypted and only works on our site.
- Technical logs of our calls to Buffer and to our AI provider (time, type of call, whether it worked, and for AI calls the number of words processed), so we can fix problems and keep costs in check. These logs do not contain your posts.
We do not use analytics or advertising cookies.
What we do with it
- Generate launch posts from your page and your answers.
- Create the posts in your Buffer account, as drafts or scheduled posts, only when you press the button to send them. We never publish anything on your behalf without that step, and we only touch posts we created.
- Send the reminder and check-in emails you opted in to. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
- Keep the service running, secure and within its limits.
We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or share it with anyone except the services below.
Who else handles your data
We use a small number of services to run LaunchBuddy. Each only gets what it needs for its job.
| Service | What for | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Buffer | Scheduling your posts | The posts and images you send |
| Anthropic (Claude) | Writing the posts | Your page text, survey and check-in answers, and edits |
| Vercel | Hosting the website and running it | Requests to our site |
| Neon | Storing your account and launches | Everything listed above, with Buffer tokens encrypted |
| Inngest | Running scheduled jobs, such as sending posts to Buffer at a steady pace | What each job needs, such as which posts to send |
Anthropic does not train its models on what we send through its commercial API, and deletes it within 30 days. The exception is content its safety systems flag as breaking its Usage Policy, which it may keep for longer.
Some of these services store data outside New Zealand, mainly in the United States. We choose services that protect data to a standard comparable to New Zealand law. Before we start using a new service, we add it to this list.
How long we keep it
- While your account is open, we keep your launches so you can come back to them and finish the check-ins.
- If you try LaunchBuddy without signing up, that unsaved launch is deleted after 30 days.
- Technical logs are deleted after 90 days.
- When you ask us to delete your account, we delete your data within 30 days. Backups roll over within a further 30 days.
Your choices and rights
- Disconnect Buffer at any time with the Disconnect button. It deletes the Buffer tokens we hold, so nothing new can reach your Buffer account. Posts already in your Buffer queue stay there until you remove them in Buffer.
- Stop emails with the unsubscribe link in any of them.
- See, correct or delete your data by emailing hi@bearliu.com.
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020 you can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. If you are in the UK or the EU you have similar rights under data protection law, including the right to object and to have your data deleted. If you are not happy with how we handle a request, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner in New Zealand (privacy.org.nz) or your local data protection authority.
Security
Buffer tokens are encrypted when stored and are only used on our servers. Connections to our site are encrypted. When we fetch a landing page, we refuse internal network addresses and limit the size of what we download. No system is perfectly secure, but if we ever find a breach that affects you, we will tell you and the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.
Children
LaunchBuddy is for people building products and is not meant for anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will email account holders before the change takes effect and update the date at the top.
